Since my earliest memories, I have always had a testimony of the prophet Joseph Smith and his work as a latter-day prophet of God. That testimony started small, but has grown over the years. As I have read, pondered, and prayed about the life and teachings of Joseph Smith, my testimony of his calling as the Lord’s instrument to restore the fullness of the gospel of Jesus Christ grown to ever increasing heights. I am amazed by the doctrines he unfolded, the church he established, and the work he accomplished in such a short, 38-year, life-span.
I was particularly inspired to build this site while reading the book, The Words of Joseph Smith, by Andrew F. Ehat. That book documents the contemporary accounts of the discourses of the Prophet Joseph Smith during the Nauvoo period, from 1839 to 1844. I thought to myself time and time again how marvelous it must of been to hear that man speak, and I found myself highlighting hundreds of new and interesting quotes by Joseph Smith or about him. I was highlighting so much, I had to hold myself back from practically highlighting the whole book. (If everything is highlighted, then nothing is highlighted, right?) The book is out of print now, but it can be found on Amazon. People sell used copies of The Words of Joseph Smith there, generally for several hundred dollars.
It is my hope that this website will help people get to know Joseph Smith better and come to realize the truthfulness of the things God revealed through him. Many of the quotes highlighted on this site show his character and personality is ways rarely seen in other materials. The profound doctrines he expounds are thought provoking and inspiring. I know Joseph Smith was a prophet of God. He re-established the Lord’s Church and kingdom on the earth. He had an intimate relationship with God, Jesus Christ, and angels, and learned directly from them. He was faithful in his calling to the end. Studying the life and teachings of Joseph Smith has brought me closer to the Savior and helped me better understand God’s plan for me. I hope it will do the same for you.
